Universal Truths (#1)

1. God is revealed by man’s existence.

Man is the image of God because we have an eternal spirit just like God does. God gave us our eternal spirit at conception. The fact that we exist proves there is a God in heaven. Those who say God doesn’t exist are called fools by God because the truth of God is all around us and self-evident for those who look with a discerning eye. What exactly is “truth.” The definition of truth is that which can be proven by actual facts. The definition of universal is that which is applicable to all cases. It’s a universal truth that since human beings exist then so does God. Scientists know of over 200 precise parameters, or conditions, that have to be present in our physical world in order for human life to exist on earth. The odds of all those things happening at the same time and all on their own are zero. That means God had to be involved. Man is not an accident of nature. Man didn’t just evolve. Man was created by the hands of Almighty God and put here on purpose.

Genesis 1:26-27 – Then God said, “Let Us make man in our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his Own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Nehemiah 9:6 – You alone are the Lord; You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and everything on it, the seas and all that is in them, and You preserve them all. The host of heaven worships You.

1 Corinthians 8:6 – Yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we are all things, and through whom we live.

Psalm 19:7 – The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

Romans 12:1 – I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

The Holy Bible is the inerrant word of God and for 2000 years critics have tried and failed to find any errors in it. The book of Genesis says that God created man and God’s word is truth. The truth is always the truth even when it’s not recognized as such by nonbelievers. It’s self-evident that God created the universe and man, which is why the Bible says when nonbelievers stand in judgment before Jesus Christ on the last day they will have no excuse for not believing in God. The proof of God is right before our eyes if we would only look, see and understand. The Bible says man is God’s masterpiece of creation which means the earth was created to be our home and the universe as our playground. God didn’t make man as an afterthought of creation. Man was the reason God created the universe. God made everything we see for us.

Psalm 95:6 – Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

Romans 1:20 – For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.

Psalm 19:1 – The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.

Psalm 8:3-4 – When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?

Zechariah 12:1 – The Lord who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him.

Human beings are comprised of many complex body systems, organs and tissues totaling over 30 trillion individual cells. The human brain is the greatest computer in the universe yet our brain is only working at 10% capacity. Imagine what we’ll be able to accomplish when Jesus restores our brain to 100% of its capacity at his Second Coming. We still haven’t even figured out how our brain works. Our brain is the nexus between the physical world and the spiritual world. For years humanists have used the education system to force the theory of evolution down our throats to the point where most people believe the great lie.

Hosea 13:4 – Yet I am the Lord your God…there is no Savior besides Me.

Romans 11:36 – For of Him (God) and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

Isaiah 45:22 – Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.

It just goes to show you if you repeat a lie long enough the human brain will eventually accept it as the truth. Madison Avenue knows this. That’s why mass advertisers keep bombarding us with the same commercials over and over. Humanists tout the theory of evolution as the reason for man without a shred of proof. Evolution is by definition a linear movement from the simple to the more complex. Statistically speaking, the universe hasn’t existed long enough for a one cell organism from the primordial ooze to have evolved into a human being made up of 30 trillion cells. The timeline isn’t even close. There is no other plausible explanation for the existence of man other than he was created by God just like the Bible says in the book of Genesis.

John 17:17 – (Jesus speaking) – Sanctify them by Your truth, Your word is truth.

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

John 1:3 – All things were made through Him (Jesus), and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Genesis 2:7 – The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Proverbs 16:4 – The Lord has made all for Himself, yes, even the wicked for the day of doom.

A body system either works as a whole or it doesn’t work at all; and the human body has numerous body systems. Your eyes, for example, can’t just evolve until they can suddenly see. A person couldn’t survive blind until their sight evolved. Something would then have to guide that evolution of cells to form into an eye that could eventually see the physical world while at the same time making a spare eye in case one is lost. All cells of the human body start out exactly the same so what directs them to differentiate themselves into the various body systems, organs and tissues? The only possible answer is Almighty God. The human body has 206 bones. What is it within a body cell that causes it to become a bone cell? How does a bone cell know which bone to form and in what part of the human body? This can only come from the Lord our God.

Job 9:8 – He alone spreads out the heavens, and treads on the waves of the sea.

1 John 5:10 – He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.

Isaiah 42:8 – I am the Lord, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another.

You cannot create order out of chaos or chance. Do you see how hopeless the theory evolution is? Someone had to design the human body and program the cells to do what they do and that someone is Almighty God. Humanists want so badly for man to be a God. So they had to come up with a theory that would support that and then they had to sell it to the masses by indoctrination using the world’s education system. This brainwashing of the masses has worked well for the most part because most people today don’t believe in God. Mankind has swallowed the theory of evolution hook, line and sinker. It’s now up to all of us who believe in God to push back on this false narrative put forth by the humanists and to go out and share the truth of God with nonbelievers at every opportunity. It’s our duty to God and the command of Jesus to witness the gospel message of Christ to all nations and all peoples. It’s our reasonable service to the God who made us.

Psalm 139:13-14 – For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Proverbs 3:19 – The Lord by His wisdom founded the earth; by His understanding He established the heavens.

Colossians 1:16-17 – For by Him (Jesus) all things were created that are in heaven and are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He (Jesus) is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Isaiah 44:24 – Thus says the Lord, your redeemer, and He who formed you in the womb; I am the Lord, who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens all alone, who spreads abroad the earth by Myself.

Psalm 102:25-27 – Of old You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You will endure; yes, they will all grow old like a garment; like a cloak You will change them, and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will have no end.

Everything in our physical world was created by God. The planets of our solar system spin on their axis as they obit the sun. Our solar system swirls within the Milky Way galaxy. Our galaxy is only one of a billion other galaxies that are constantly moving throughout the universe in a precise manner; all according to the physical laws established by God. God has programmed all life to produce after its kind. The Bible says life is in the blood and blood courses through the veins of all higher forms of life because God wills it to be so. God has not only made everything in the universe; God also sustains the universe with the power of his right hand. Our day to day existence is only possible as long as God keeps extending his open hand. If God were to simply withdraw his hand from creation all matter in the universe would dissolve and melt away into the nothingness from whence it came.

Leviticus 17:11 – For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.

Job 26:7 – He stretches out the north over empty space, He hangs the earth on nothing.

Romans 1:18-19 – For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.

Isaiah 43:11 – I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no Savior.

In summary, the fact that the earth exists is proof of God’s existence. The fact that the universe exists is proof that God exists. But most of all, the fact that man exists proves that God also exists. God not only made us; God sustains us every moment of our lives. I don’t want to hear any more of this nonsense from nonbelievers that there’s no God when I know very well they don’t have a shred of proof to back up their false claim. On the other hand, the proof of God is all around us. Take a good look. Check out the stars tonight! Anyone with half a brain who takes the time to examine the evidence will find the truth of God. We just need to identify who God really is because there are many false gods who also claim to be the one true God. Only our Lord and God of the Christian faith has presented a body of evidence that indisputably proves he is the one true living God of creation. In addition to creation, God has also given us his word and his son Jesus Christ as his testimony that the Lord alone is God.

Psalm 104:24 – O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions.

Isaiah 46:9 – Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; and there is none like Me.

Isaiah 45:5 – I am the Lord, and there is no other; there is no God besides Me.

Ephesians 3:9 – (I am) God who created all things through Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:10 – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

The Bible is not only the truth of God; it’s also the wisdom of God. God put eternity in the hearts of men so they would know there was a God and seek his face. As believers we know that there is wisdom in all the verses of the Bible. However, some books of the Bible contain more wisdom than others, which is why the books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job are referred to as the Bible’s wisdom literature. Even though the hymns of the book of Psalms are classified as Bible poetry I also like to include it as wisdom literature because the wisdom contained in the book of Psalms is self-evident. God pleads with man and reasons with him throughout the pages of the Bible so that we might be persuaded to seek God and find the truth of God which is contained in his word. What more can God do to reach out to us? It’s up to each of us to know the truth of God and then seek out his salvation unto eternal life while we yet live.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Isaiah 1:18 – Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

The word “proverb” means “universal truth”, which is the main topic of this blog. It’s no accident that many of the Scriptures supporting this blog come from the Bible’s wisdom literature books. As you read your Bible daily reflect on the wisdom contained in God’s word. The more we read God’s verses of wisdom the more our brain accepts them as the truth and incorporates them into our everyday actions. True wisdom is only gained through God’s word. In addition to gaining wisdom, our holiness and sanctification before God will increase the more we abide in God’s word. Read a chapter of the book of Proverbs every day for the best results. Let your mind continually soak up the wisdom of God every day through daily Bible reading and you’ll have a blessed life before the Lord.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 – He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Psalm 53:1 – The fool has said in his heart, there is no God. They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; there is none who does good.

Psalm 104:4 – (God) Who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire.

Psalm 89:5 – And the heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints.

Psalm 33:11 – The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 – Fear God, and keep His commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.

Hiding in Plain Sight (#10 and last)

This ten-part blog series is about the revelation of God. God is always present in our world but he’s also hiding in plain sight. For believers who are spiritually aware seeing God in the world around us is easy. Satan can’t fool us. For nonbelievers, seeing God is much harder because Satan is the god of this world and he has blinded them to the truth of God. God is invisible so to prove he’s there believers need to be able to present facts and physical evidence that can only exist if there is a God. When believers witness for Christ they can present a series of events that defies all probability so that, in the end, we’re left with only one possible conclusion, which is that our God is the creator of all. So if God created man and put us on this earth what was the reason? I’ll tell you. God never does anything without a reason. God has given each of us our brief lifespan to make the free will decision to serve God or Satan. It’s the most important decision of our life, with eternal repercussions. When we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior God gifts us salvation unto eternal life in heaven in the presence of Jesus. If we reject God’s mercy and saving grace by choosing to serve Satan then we’ll reap the wrath of God, which results in eternal death in the lake of fire where we’ll be in constant pain and agony forever and ever.

2 Corinthians 4:4 – Whose minds the god of this age has blinded who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Philippians 2:9-10 – Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.

Proverbs 11:30 – The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.

Proverbs 14:25 – A true witness delivers souls, but a deceitful witness speaks lies.

Our salvation is not the end of our walk with God, but the beginning. As disciples of Christ all believers are to present their bodies to God as their reasonable service to the God who made us. Believers are foot soldiers of Christ, commanded to share the gospel message of Jesus Christ with the nonbeliever. Believers are commanded to do good works and witnessing for Christ is a good work. Witnessing for Christ is the number one good work, without which all other good works are meaningless. We know salvation unto eternal life is by faith alone and that any rewards we receive in heaven will be based on the actions we take during the life we live here on earth; primarily how effectively we witness for Jesus Christ. Whatever rewards we’re given in heaven will last for all eternity so it’s critically important we use our time here on earth wisely. You cannot witness for Christ effectively unless you intentionally plan to do it. You cannot effectively witness for Christ unless you prepare for it by knowing your God through prayer and then abiding in God’s Word through regular Bible reading and Bible study. You can’t do something well until you first learn how to do it properly. You can’t guide someone to salvation haphazardly. You need a plan, an outline in your head how you plan to proceed.

Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek (Gentile).

1 Corinthians 1:18 – For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

2 Corinthians 4:3 – But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.

1 Corinthians 6:20 – For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Many verses of Scripture have been used to save people to the kingdom of God. I prefer to witness for Christ by using the tried and true path known as the, “Roman road”, which is a logical progression of thought in the Scriptures which will lead a nonbeliever to salvation. I prefer to start any witness of the gospel with John 3:16 because I’ve found people usually won’t listen to God until they know God loves them. Then I cover, in order, Romans 3:23 (all are sinners), Romans 6:23 (sins must be paid for), Romans 5:8 (Jesus paid our sin debt) and Romans 10:9 (accepting the gift of eternal life). Once you’ve presented the message of the gospel of Christ close the sale like any good salesman would; seek a commitment from them using the outline of the sinner’s prayer to God. If you’re unable to reap their soul for the kingdom of God, which is the most likely outcome, at least you’ll have spread the gospel seed as commanded by God. Keep in mind, it’s rare for someone to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior the first time they hear the gospel of Christ. It normally takes hearing the gospel message 15-20 times before someone gives their life to Christ. The amazing thing is that God is generous to a fault and he will equally reward believers who spread the gospel seed and those who bring in the harvest for the kingdom of God. Our God is great!

2 Corinthians 9:6 – But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

2 Corinthians 5:20 – Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God was pleading through us: We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.

1 Corinthians 3:9 – For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.

1 Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

The “proof of God” lists I’ve provided in this blog series are to be printed off, folded, and carried in your witness Bible as physical evidence of our God should a nonbeliever ask you to prove to him or her that God exists. Usually a nonbeliever doesn’t believe in God at all so the list of physical proofs of God is a good place to start. If they say they don’t believe the Bible is God’s word you have a list of proofs to refute that. If they don’t believe Jesus is God you have a list with ample proof to refute that too. If a nonbeliever doesn’t believe in miracles you have a list of some of God’s miracles performed in our lifetime. Your list of proofs of God by themselves probably won’t convince someone to choose God but they’ll give the nonbeliever pause; they’ll at least make him stop and listen. Nonbelievers will be saved primarily by your witness; your knowledge of God through his word and by your passion for Christ. Words can be faked but not your passion. Those who witness for Christ will be judged whether or not they are right by their love of God. Each believer needs to make it their intention to please God and that can only be accomplished by witnessing for Christ. As believers, when we stand before the bema judgment seat of Christ on the last day, our goal is to hear Jesus say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” That’ll only happen when we effectively witness for Christ by continually sowing the gospel seed of Jesus Christ until God calls us home or until Jesus comes for us in the air.

2 Corinthians 5:10 – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

2 Corinthians 4:14 – Knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and present us with you.

2 Corinthians 5:11 – Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.

Ephesians 5:15-16 – See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Even when we know how to witness for Christ and are actively looking for people to witness to we’re lucky if we get to share the gospel message with two or three people a year. It’s just not enough! The key is we need to find a way to leverage our witness for Christ in order to reach more people through what I call “passive” witnessing. A religious television show or radio show are examples of passive witnessing for Christ. Christian book authors are passively witnessing for Christ through the pages of their books. My Christian blog site is my way of “passively” witnessing for the Lord. We can’t all witness for Christ using these venues. However, I’ve found another way that anyone can easily witness for Christ in a passive manner. Christian tracts are small cartoon booklets containing the gospel message and handing them out or funding their purchase will be accepted by God as passively witnessing for Christ.

Christian tracts are cheap at 18 cents apiece and they are an easy way to distribute the gospel message of Jesus Christ to people who otherwise can’t be reached any other way. Jack Chick invented Christian tracts over 75 years ago and after reading his life story it’s evident to me he had a passion for witnessing the gospel of Christ to nonbelievers. It’s also evident to me that the Holy Spirit was onboard with Jack Chick and helped him to develop this method of passively sharing the gospel message. Over one billion Chick tracts have been distributed throughout the world plus those of many competitors. Christian tracts in general have helped bring hundreds of thousands of people to salvation by sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ. You’d be wise to hand out Christian tracts because by doing so you’ll be obeying the Great Commission of Jesus Christ to witness the gospel message to all nations and all peoples. God will reward your obedience to his word.

The following are a few Scriptures where God reveals secrets not discovered by man until thousands of years later:

Hebrews 11:3 – By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. (atomic structure)

Isaiah 40:22 – It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. (the earth is round)

Job 26:7 – He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing. (the earth hangs in space)

Job 28:5 – As for the earth, from it comes bread, but underneath it is turned up as by fire. (the earth has a molten core)

Psalm 104:6 – You covered it (the earth) with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. ( there are mountains beneath the sea)

Psalm 8:8 – The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas. (the oceans have currents)

Amos 9:6 – He who builds his layers in the sky, and has founded His strata in the earth; who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the face of the earth – the Lord is His name. (undersea water volcanoes, stratification of both the earth and sky into various layers)

Ecclesiastes 1:7 – All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; to the place from which the rivers come, there they return again. (hydrological cycle)

Job 36:27-28 – For He draws up drops of water, which distills as rain from the mist, which the clouds drop down and pour abundantly on man. (hydrological cycle)

Psalm 135:7 – He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning for the rains; He brings the wind out of His treasuries. (hydrological cycle)

Hiding in Plain Sight (#9)

Scripture repeatedly tells us that God is constant. God does not change; never has in the past and never will in the future. We know that God made us and he loves us dearly. The Bible also tells us over and over God is faithful. That means we can count on God to love us and take care of us for all eternity. In the Old Testament times God revealed himself to all men through his wondrous miracles and through the prophets. Since we’ve already said God doesn’t change that means God also performs miracles today. The difference is God speaks to man today through the Bible, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and he no longer needs to perform miracles like we see in the Old Testament. God’s miracles today are more low key and understated. Nonbelievers will miss God’s miracles because they lack spiritual understanding; they are fools. Satan has totally blinded nonbelievers to God’s miracles in plain sight. Believers have the spiritual insight to see God’s miracles for what they are.

Malachi 3:6 – For I am the Lord, I do not change.

James 1:17 – Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Philippians 2:9-10 – Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.

2 Corinthians 4:4 – Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Miracles are proofs of God that are one time events or events of a short duration. Miracles may not be readily recognized while they are happening. You might have to look at the end result and then work backward to come to the realization that something impossible and miraculous has happened, with the only logical explanation being God has intervened in some way. The Bible makes it clear the Jewish people are God’s chosen people. God has stated many time in Scripture that he will fight for Israel. Jerusalem is God’s holy city and he has chosen it to bear his name. God is the most powerful being in the universe and he has sworn to protect Israel as his special possession. The Arab nations should have the common sense to leave Israel alone but Satan has blinded them, along with all the other nations of the earth, with a hatred of Israel that will lead them all to the slaughter.

GOD’S MIRACLE PROOFS:

1. The existence of Israel – For most of the last 2000 years the nation of Israel did not exist. Because of their disobedience God ended Israel as a nation and dispersed the Jews throughout the world. No people once dispersed have ever maintained their ethnic identity and then were reconstituted into a nation, let alone in their original homeland. In the Bible God said he would regather his people Israel and make them into a nation once again. On May 14, 1948, Israel declared itself a new nation, with its original name and in their original homeland. This was three miracles of God in one.

2. War of Independence – When Israel declared itself a nation on May 14, 1948, it caused the Arabs to declare war and attack the next day. The combined forces of Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon attacked with 650,000 troops and a highly mechanized army with tanks, armored vehicles and heavy artillery. On the other side Israel had around 48,000 men equipped with a handful of old rifles and sub-machine guns and very little ammunition. The Arabs also had a modern air force with jet aircraft. Israel countered with one Piper Cub airplane. The Arab forces outnumbered the Israeli forces forty to one and in military equipment the advantage was even more striking; something like one thousand to one. This was about the same odds Gideon faced when he battled the Midianites. Let’s face it, God prefers a battle where he is vastly outnumbered so the victory will be to his glory. When the fighting ended Israel had won the war and gained 23% more territory. It was the greatest military feat in the annals of human history. God fought for Israel.

3. The Sinai War – In 1956 Egypt attacked Israel and the war only lasted a week. Israel captured the Sinai peninsula all the way to the Suez Canal and destroyed a quarter of the much larger Egyptian Army. 3,000 Egyptian soldiers were killed and 5,600 were captured. Vast stores of military equipment were seized. Israel suffered 171 killed and 600 injured. God fought for Israel.

4. The Six Day War – In 1967 Israel launched a preemptive strike on Egypt as the Arabs were massing for an attack on Israel. The Egyptian air force was destroyed on the ground (444 planes). Egypt lost more than 100,000 men, 700 tanks and 450 artillery pieces. Israel lost two planes, 679 killed and 2, 563 wounded. Israel seized Sinai, Gaza, the west bank, all of Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, adding 8,000 more square miles to Israel. God fought for Israel.

5. The Yom Kippur War – In 1973 the Arabs caught Israel by surprise. Egypt and Syria attacked Israel with 5,000 tanks, 2,000 artillery pieces, 1,000 aircraft and 838,000 men. The advancing Arabs were on the verge of victory but they suddenly stopped for 48 hours. God made the Arabs hold up because he made them fearful and tentative. We’ve seen God do this with opposing armies several times in the Old Testament. Sometimes God makes armies turn on themselves and destroy each other. In this instance the pause in fighting allowed Israel to regroup and win the war. Israel lost 4,000 men but the Arabs suffered much heavier losses. God saved Israel once again.

6. The Russian War – This war hasn’t happened yet but its been prophesied in the Bible so it will happen. Russia will one day invade Israel and attempt to destroy Jerusalem and God has promised to kill six out of every seven Russian soldiers who invade Israel. God will destroy the Russian army.

7. The Battle of Armageddon – This battle will occur after the Russian War. The antichrist and the combined armies of the world will attack Israel and surround Jerusalem. Jesus Christ will set foot on the Mount of Olives at his Second Coming with his mighty angels to save Israel from destruction. Jesus will destroy the enemies of Israel and set up his millennial kingdom on the earth for 1,000 years.

Hiding in Plain Sight (#8)

There’s only one God but he exists in three distinct divine persons; God the Father, Jesus the son and the Holy Spirit. This is called the Triune Godhead. Scripture confirms that it was Jesus Christ who actually created the universe, earth and man. Jesus died on the cross for the sins of all men but he’s the Savior of only those who accept him as Lord and Savior. The word Savior we can all understand. Jesus saved us “from” spending eternity in hell in continuous pain and agony and at the same time Jesus saved us “to” an eternity in heaven with joy and happiness in the presence of Jesus. The gulf between these two extreme destinations is breathtaking; and Jesus died on the cross to give us that choice between the two. Jesus Christ is unique because he is the only person who is both man and God. Jesus has always existed in heaven as an invisible spirit. When God came to earth in the incarnation of Jesus Christ he became a man and lived a normal human life. Jesus had a dual nature; he was both 100% God and 100% man with no mixing of the two natures.

Colossians 1:16-17 – For by Him (Jesus) all things were created that are in heaven and are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Colossians 2:9-10 – For in Him (Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

As a man Jesus was resurrected by God into his glorified body to defeat death. As the first fruits of the resurrection Jesus is an example that shows all believers they will one day also receive glorified bodies that will be exactly like Jesus’ glorified body. As God, Jesus Christ ascended back to heaven where he sits at the right hand of the Father. Jesus didn’t revert back to being an invisible spirit once he got to heaven. For all eternity Jesus will remain in his glorified human body. When we call Jesus our Lord it means he’s our King and we are slaves of Christ, bond servants of the Lord. We belong to Jesus. God gave Jesus dominion over heaven and earth and also the judgment of all men on the last day. Jesus will one day give all believers their eternal rewards in heaven and Jesus will sentence all nonbelievers on the last day to an eternity in the lake of fire. Every person who has ever lived will be resurrected bodily one day and bow their knee to Jesus Christ; who is King of kings and Lord of lords. Don’t wait until then; start thinking of Jesus Christ as your King right now and give him the honor, praise, worship and glory that is his due from this point onward.

35. That he would be raised from the dead.

Fulfillment – Revelation 19:15 – Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Hiding in Plain Sight (#7)

All Christian believers are responsible for maintaining their passion for God. We do that through daily prayer and daily Bible reading, thereby staying in fellowship with God the Father. A believers constant goal should be to always please God. The Bible states that a lukewarm Christian does not please God. You have to be self-motivated and stoke your own internal spiritual fire in this world. Never ever let your faith grow cold! Each person is different so let’s each of us do whatever we need to do personally to keep our fire for God burning bright. All believers are also responsible for maintaining their fear of the Lord. I’m talking about “fear” in the biblical sense, which means to look upon God with awe, reverence and deep respect. This is an easy thing to do as long as you stay in fellowship with God through daily prayer and daily Bible reading. When you do the Holy Spirit will be more prominent in your life and your sanctification will accelerate as you walk humbly with your God all the time.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

God should be on the mind of believers numerous times throughout each day. Believers should be giving God honor, praise, worship and glory every day! At least once a week each believer should set aside some quality time to quietly meditate about the majesty and magnitude of Almighty God. This will help you maintain your passion for God and also your fear of the Lord. More importantly, God is pleased when you think about him and this more than anything else will increase and nurture your love of God. It’s easy to love someone who loved you first, when you didn’t deserve it. It’s easy to love a God who set aside his crown in heaven and lowered himself to our level by living a human life in order to save us from the fires of hell. That is real love. Jesus Christ died on the cross in our place to save us from our sins. Jesus could have said “no” at any time and avoided crucifixion; but then man would have been lost forever. Instead, Jesus bore the shame and humiliation of his terrible death to save us. Jesus is our Savior, my Savior, and I love him for it. When you think about Jesus just remember what he did for you, what he did for all of us, and that he loves you still.

JESUS PROOFS: (continued)

17. That he would make a triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

Prophecy – Zechariah 9:9 – Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; he is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Loose them and bring them to Me. And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, “The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.'” All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet.

18. That he would be praise by little children.

Fulfillment – John 12:37-38 – But although He (Jesus) had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled.

21. That his friend would betray him for thirty pieces of silver.

Prophecy – Zechariah 11:12-13 – Then I (Judas) said to them, “If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not refrain.” So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver. And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter” – that princely sum they set on me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the Lord for the potter.

Fulfillment – Matthew 26:14-16 – Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.

25. That his price money would be used to buy a potter’s field.

Prophecy – Zechariah 11:13 – see #21

Fulfillment – Matthew 27:5-7 – The he (Judas) threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself. But the chief priests took the silver and said, “It is not lawful to put them in the treasury, because they are the price of blood.” And they consulted together and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in.

26. That he would be given vinegar to drink.

Prophecy – Psalm 69:21 – They also gave me gall for my food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

Fulfillment – Matthew 27:48 – Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink.

Hiding in Plain Sight (#6)

God is obvious but he’s not intrusive. We’ve covered the first two arrows in the quiver of those who witness for Christ; physical proofs of God and Bible proofs of God. Now we come to the third and final sure sign from God that all men have access to. The final arrow in the quiver of those who witness for Christ is the proof of Jesus. In God’s word, our Holy Bible, God gave us his testimony about the coming of his son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for the sins of fallen man. According to Bible scholars the Bible contains over 60 prophecies about the coming of Jesus Christ. I personally can’t find that many prophecies about Jesus but I did make a list of the 37 prophecies about Jesus I think are most important. During his life Jesus Christ fulfilled every one of those 37 prophecies by his birth, ministry, death and resurrection. The odds of any one person fulfilling all of the prophecies about the Messiah and not being God in the flesh is zero.

Isaiah 43:26 – Put Me in remembrance; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted.

On my Jesus proofs I have a list of 37 Old Testament prophecies about the coming of the Messiah followed by the New Testament fulfillment of those Old Testament prophecies. Fulfillment of all the messianic prophecies in the Bible is documented by Roman and Jewish historical records and by numerous eyewitness testimonies of that time in history, which was how truth was established in ancient times. After the death of Jesus written accounts of his life were made by those who were there to witness it. The story of Jesus Christ is the story of the greatest event in human history. God in heaven came off his throne and lived a human life in order to save fallen man from their sins. By his actions God has proven his great love for us.

JESUS PROOFS:

1. That he would be born of a virgin.

Prophecy – Isaiah 7:14 – Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (God with us).

Fulfillment – Matthew 1:20-21 – An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to take Mary as his wife because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.

2. That he would be given the throne of David.

Prophecy – Isaiah 9:6-7 – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Fulfillment – Luke 1:31-33 – You (Mary) will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.

3. That his throne would be an eternal throne.

Prophecy – Psalm 132:11-12 – The Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath that he will not revoke: “One of your own descendants I will place on your throne – if your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne forever and ever.”

8. That he would be in Egypt for a season.

Prophecy – Hosea 11:1 – When Israel was a child I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My Son.

Fulfillment – Matthew 2:14-15 – So he (Joseph) got up, took the child and his mother and escaped to Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”

9. That his birthplace would suffer a massacre of infants.

Prophecy – Jeremiah 31:15 – This is what the Lord says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are no more.”

Fulfillment – Matthew 2:16 – When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

10. That he would be called a Nazarene.

Prophecy – Isaiah 11:1 – There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.

Fulfillment – Matthew 2:22-23 – But when he (Joseph) heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: “He will be called a Nazarene.”

11. That he would be zealous for the Father.

Prophecy – Psalm 119:139 – My zeal has consumed me, because my enemies have forgotten Your words.

Fulfillment – John 2:16 – (Jesus speaking) – Take these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!

12. That he would be filled with God’s Spirit.

Prophecy – Isaiah 11:2 – The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

Fulfillment – Luke 4:18-19 – (Jesus speaking) – The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

13. That he would heal many.

Prophecy – Isaiah 53:4 – Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.

Fulfillment – Matthew 8:16-17 – When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.”

14. That he would deal gently with the Gentiles.

Prophecy – Isaiah 9:2 – The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.

Fulfillment – Matthew 4:13-16 – And leaving Nazareth, He (Jesus) came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Napthali, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “The land of Zebulun and the land of Napthali, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles: The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.”

15. That he would speak in parables.

Prophecy – Isaiah 6:10 – Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and return and be healed.

Fulfillment – Matthew 13:10-11, 13 – And the disciples came and said to Him (Jesus), “Why do You speak to them in parables?” He (Jesus) answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.” “Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.”

16. That he would be rejected by his own.

Prophecy – Isaiah 53:3 – He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

Fulfillment – John 1:11 – He (Jesus) came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him.

Hiding in Plain Sight (#5)

Believers who decide to share the gospel message of Jesus Christ with nonbelievers have three arrows in their quiver. Each one is a sure sign from God of his existence. The first arrow in our quiver is creation and I’ve previously shared my list of 23 physical proofs of God that we can see and know about our universe and also the additional physical proofs of God that we see in the human body. When you witness for Christ more than likely you’ll encounter people who don’t believe in the existence of God at all so the physical proofs of God are usually the best place to start with everyone who receives your witness. You may run across someone occasionally who does believe in God but maybe doesn’t believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God or who doesn’t believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. It happens. That’s why you have to question the nonbeliever to find out where their hang up is with the truth of God so you can shift your witness to first cover those areas. When you share your witness for Christ you’re eventually going to cover all three arrows anyway; it’s just a matter of in what order.

Proverb 11:30 – The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.

Proverbs 14:25 – A true witness delivers souls, but a deceitful witness speaks lies.

Matthew 9:37-38 – The harvest is truly plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

The second arrow in your witness arsenal is God’s Word, our Holy Bible. Scripture says the word of God is foolishness to nonbelievers so we have to build a logical defense of the Bible based on verifiable facts. There is overwhelming evidence that the Holy Bible is a revelation of God for all men. As believers who witness for Christ all we have to do is lay out all the evidence for the nonbeliever so they can absorb the truth of God themselves. I came up with seven proofs that the Bible is God’s word which I’ve written down as bullet points we can share with nonbelievers; here they are:

1. The Holy Bible contains 66 books by 40 different writers written over a period of 1500 years. Writers included kings, prophets, learned men, uneducated farmers and illiterate fishermen. None of the Bible writers ever contradict each other or walk over what the other is saying. The Bible reads like there is only one author because every word comes from the Lord. The central theme in every book of the Bible is the coming of Jesus Christ to save fallen man. The books of the Bible all fit together like a glove and without any errors or inconsistencies. The same consistent message of the Bible is God’s love for man and salvation through faith in his son, Jesus Christ.

2. The Bible is 27% prophecy and over 500 of the 1000 plus prophecies contained in God’s word have been fulfilled and documented as fact. Prophecy fulfillment has been 100% to date. Not one prophecy has failed to be fulfilled in its due time. God gave us prophecy for two reasons. First, God wanted to reveal himself to us and share his commandments for us to follow. Second, God wanted to prove to us that he is God. As the author of history only God can tell the future. That’s one of the ways we can be sure we’re dealing with God and not an impostor. Throughout history Satan has sponsored numerous fake religions and false god to hide the truth of God from man. There’s not one single prophecy that has ever been fulfilled by any of the fake religions that have ever existed throughout history. They can’t because they’re all fake religions and Satan can’t tell the future.

3. The Bible is the inerrant word of God and no mistakes in the Bible have ever been proven even though critics have been trying for 2000 years.

A. Critics said there was no such person as Jesus but Roman and Jewish historical records prove otherwise.

B. Critics said the walls of Jericho never fell all at once. Recent archeological discoveries prove the walls all fell at the same time.

C. Critics said there was no such person as King David. In 1933 a stone was discovered confirming there was a house of David in Israel.

D. Detractors have said for centuries the Bible had to be false because there was no such country as Israel. While that was true for many centuries all that changed on May, 14, 1948, when Israel once again became a nation; all in a single day just as God said it would be.

E. For centuries detractors said the Bible couldn’t be true because there was no way all the people of the earth would be able to see Jesus set foot on the Mount of Olives. At one time that may have been true but now we have cable TV that broadcasts worldwide news 24/7 which verifies what the Bible says.

4. The Old Testament contains over 60 prophecies concerning the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ, the son of God. During his birth, ministry and death Jesus fulfilled every prophecy concerning him; proving beyond any doubt that he was the Christ, the Messiah, the only son of the Father, the creator of heaven and earth and everything in it. The odds of any one person fulfilling all these prophecies and not being the son of God is a staggering number, something like the number of atoms in our universe times five. That means Jesus Christ is without a doubt the son of God and our Savior.

5. To make it perfectly clear to man that he is God, in the book of Isaiah God prophesied he would free his people from 70 years of captivity and God actually provided in Scripture the name of “Cyrus” as the man God would use to free the Jewish people. God did this not once but twice in Scripture to make sure we understand Jehovah is God! Exactly 70 years after the Jews were taken captive to Babylon as slaves King Cyrus of Persia captured that kingdom and freed the Israelites so they could return home to Israel just as God said he would. When I read this in the Bible I was dumbfounded. God couldn’t speak any clearer. This Scripture alone is proof enough to me that God is who he says he is.

6. All Scripture was written by men as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. The writers didn’t understand everything that they wrote. The Bible contains verses with information and experiences the writers knew nothing about and discoveries that wouldn’t be made for thousands of years in the future. For example, Isaiah 40:22 says the earth is a circle when everyone at that time thought the world was flat. Psalm 104:6 says there are mountains under the sea when people in ancient times thought the earth was flat and that the bottom of the ocean was smooth like a bowl. Job 26:7 says the earth hangs in space, on nothing. Job 28:5 says the earth has a molten core. Amos 9:6 says there are water volcanoes under the sea and the earth and sky are composed of layers. Hebrews 11:3 says everything that is visible is made from things that are invisible (atoms). Psalm 8:8 says there are currents in the oceans. Psalm 135:7, Psalm 104:6 and Ecclesiastes 1:7 each refer to the earth’s hydrological cycle where water vapor from the oceans turns into rain which fills the rivers which run to the oceans of the world in a continuous cycle to replenish the earth. All of these things were true but unverified for many centuries after the words were written.

7. People have a hard time believing the Bible story about Noah’s ark because it sounds so incredulous. Noah’s ark was a major stumbling block for a friend of mine who also happened to be an engineer. The ark was very large but you have to remember it took Noah and his sons 120 years to build it. God provided Noah the specific dimensions for the ark. As it turns out, large ocean-going vessels must meet specific engineering guidelines in order to be seaworthy which the ark certainly was. This was the first large ocean-going vessel ever built so nobody knew how it should be built. It wasn’t until thousands of years later that engineers corroborated that God’s ark dimensions were correct. The existence of Noah’s ark is proof of God.

Acts 20:32 – So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

John 17:17 – (Jesus speaking) – Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

John 15:7 – (Jesus speaking) – If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

To use the proofs of the Bible in your witness it’s important to read the Bible regularly and to actually study God’s word so you can answer any questions the nonbeliever may have. You can’t fake Bible knowledge; you have to put in the study time and earn it. If you don’t abide in God’s word the Holy Spirit won’t be there to give you revelation about the Bible or strength when you need it and you won’t have the passion for God you need to effectively witness for Christ. The words you speak in your witness for Christ aren’t as important as the nonverbal cues you give off. If you have a passion and love for God then nonbelievers will be able to feel that from you. That can’t be faked and the nonbeliever will feel your emotions and may believe what you say is true. The Bible is the revelation of Jesus Christ and God’s salvation plan for man. Boldly show your belief in God to the nonbeliever.

Isaiah 40:5 – The glory of the Lord shall be revealed (the Second Coming of Jesus Christ), and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Proverbs 30:5 – Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

Psalm 119:9 – How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.

Isaiah 44:28 – Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd, and he shall perform all My pleasure, saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,” and to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.”‘

Isaiah 45:1,4 – Thus says the Lord to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held – to subdue nations before him and loose the armor of kings, to open before him the double doors, so that the gates will not be shut. For Jacob My servant’s sake, and Israel My elect, I have even called you by your name.
