The Son of God (#2)

When I examine the triune Godhead what sticks out to me is the fact that God the Father is a homer. He pretty much stays in the office (i.e. heaven) and leaves all the out of town travel to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I’m not being flippant. Often the best way to explain something is by relating it to something we’re familiar with. Some people think Jesus never left heaven until the incarnation and Jesus was only involved in the New Testament. That’s incorrect. Jesus created the universe and he’s been actively involved in his creation all along, both in the Old and New Testaments. The New Testament focuses on the life of Jesus, and rightfully so, since the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important event in human history. One moment all of humanity was lost in their sins and the very next moment, with the death of Jesus, we’re all rescued from hell and given a second chance, an opportunity to live forever in heaven. Jesus’ death paid our sin debt to God. Jesus picked up our tab and our eternal destiny was changed forever. We were all headed for hell and Jesus diverted us to heaven by his sacrificial death. Praise God for his love, mercy and grace!

What a lot of people don’t realize is Jesus was also very active in the Old Testament but he wasn’t obvious about it. In the Old Testament every time that I can think of that God appears it’s actually Jesus who was manifested. Pre-Bethlehem appearances of Christ are known as theophanies. Let’s look at some examples. In Genesis 18, it was Jesus who appeared to Abraham in human form (along with two angels) and dined with Abraham in his tent. In Genesis 32, it was Jesus who wrestled all night long with Jacob. Jesus appeared to Moses on three occasions. The first time Jesus appeared to Moses was on Mount Sinai where Jesus appeared as a burning bush. The second time Jesus appeared it was as a pillar of fire to lead Israel to the promised land (Exodus 23:20). The third and final time Jesus appeared to Moses was chronicled in Exodus chapter 33. Moses asked to see the glory of God and Jesus allowed Moses to see his back side after he passed by, because no man may see God’s face and live.

In addition to showing up in the Old Testament as God, Jesus also made numerous appearances as an angel. The archangel Gabriel, the messenger of God, appears in the Old Testament 17 times and each time he is identified. That’s significant because whenever an angel appeared in the Old Testament and he’s unnamed there’s a good chance it was Jesus himself. Let’s look at some examples. The one appearance of Jesus we remember the most is the Old Testament story of Daniel in the lion’s den. It was Jesus who appeared to Daniel as an angel and shut up the mouth of the lion. It was Jesus who appeared to Hagar in the desert and ministered unto her. Remember the angel who appeared to Elijah and Gideon? He was also Jesus. When Moses died God appointed Joshua as the new leader of Israel. It was Jesus who appeared to Joshua as an angel and identified himself as the captain of the Lord’s host. Jesus wanted to assure Joshua that he would be with him as he was with Moses.

Jesus created the universe and it’s Jesus who is intimately involved in every detail of his creation. God’s Word confirms the chief cornerstone of both creation and salvation is Jesus Christ. In any situation in life where you need a decision always look for the person in charge, the decider, the one calling the shots, for the answer. Otherwise, you’re just wasting your time. When it comes to our life, our salvation, and our peace, that decider, the person in charge, is Jesus Christ. Your daddy won’t help you and the Pope can’t save you. You must personally go to the decider of your fate for forgiveness and believe that you have it. The Bible says Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Nobody gets to heaven without faith in Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

All other religions are fake and their gods are lifeless. You never see any books on the shelves by adherents of these fake religions saying how much their god has done for them. Why is that? Because their god is not the true god. He’s a fake. The founders of all the fake religions in the world are still in a grave somewhere. With Christianity, the tomb of Jesus is empty because he is risen! Jesus is in heaven right this minute sitting at the right hand of power as our intercessor with God the Father. God has made all the information needed for our salvation available in his Word, our Holy Bible, for anyone to read. Read the Bible and be saved unto eternal life in heaven forever. Study the Bible to know God.

We know Jesus is the judge over everything, the decider of our fate, so why wait another minute if you haven’t given your life to him? If you die before accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior you’ve waited too long. If Jesus comes in the clouds and raptures the saints before you make your decision you’ve waited too long. If you find yourself standing before the Great White Throne for judgment on the last day you’ve waited too long. When the angel of God grabs you by the arm and throws you into the lake of fire the thing that’ll cross your mind just about that time is. “I shouldn’t have waited so long.” If you’re reading this blog it’s not too late for you. Pray the sinner’s prayer to God right now. The Bible says now is the day of your salvation!

2 Corinthians 6:2 – Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Mark 1:15 – The time has come. The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!

John 14:6 – I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Acts 4:12 – Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

Luke 19:10 – For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Romans 10:9 – That id you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

John 8:32 – (Jesus speaking) – And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
