Rules to live by (#5)

8. Cultivate your love:

The Bible tells us God is love. God tells us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves and that this sums up the law of the prophets. Love describes the essence of God. God made us in His image so we’re also capable of a much greater capacity for love than we now have. It’s up to us to cultivate and grow our capacity to love by meditating on God’s Word and the promises God made to us, His beloved children.  We can stoke our love of God by praying continually to our heavenly Father with thanksgiving and gratitude for all He has done for us. God’s mercy, grace and love has given us eternal life in heaven in the presence of Almighty God and the untold riches He will shower on us, His special creation.

Philippians 4:19 – And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 5:20 – Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9. Be a prayer warrior:

God wants to communicate with us. God speaks to us through his Word and we speak to God through prayer. Jesus died on the cross to restore our fellowship with God which gives us the privilege of accessing the throne of grace where we can talk directly to God continually. The Bible says Gods hears the prayers of His children and He answers those prayers.  God wants to hear about every aspect of our lives and all our worries and concerns. God will never get bored with what we have to say. God is the perfect listener. The more we go to God in prayer the deeper our personal relationship with God.  God is our Creator and also our treasured friend.

Colossians 4:2 – Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Ephesians 6:18 – And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
