There’s only one God but he exists in three distinct divine persons; God the Father, Jesus the son and the Holy Spirit. This is called the Triune Godhead. Scripture confirms that it was Jesus Christ who actually created the universe, earth and man. Jesus died on the cross for the sins of all men but he’s the Savior of only those who accept him as Lord and Savior. The word Savior we can all understand. Jesus saved us “from” spending eternity in hell in continuous pain and agony and at the same time Jesus saved us “to” an eternity in heaven with joy and happiness in the presence of Jesus. The gulf between these two extreme destinations is breathtaking; and Jesus died on the cross to give us that choice between the two. Jesus Christ is unique because he is the only person who is both man and God. Jesus has always existed in heaven as an invisible spirit. When God came to earth in the incarnation of Jesus Christ he became a man and lived a normal human life. Jesus had a dual nature; he was both 100% God and 100% man with no mixing of the two natures.
Colossians 1:16-17 – For by Him (Jesus) all things were created that are in heaven and are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
Colossians 2:9-10 – For in Him (Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
As a man Jesus was resurrected by God into his glorified body to defeat death. As the first fruits of the resurrection Jesus is an example that shows all believers they will one day also receive glorified bodies that will be exactly like Jesus’ glorified body. As God, Jesus Christ ascended back to heaven where he sits at the right hand of the Father. Jesus didn’t revert back to being an invisible spirit once he got to heaven. For all eternity Jesus will remain in his glorified human body. When we call Jesus our Lord it means he’s our King and we are slaves of Christ, bond servants of the Lord. We belong to Jesus. God gave Jesus dominion over heaven and earth and also the judgment of all men on the last day. Jesus will one day give all believers their eternal rewards in heaven and Jesus will sentence all nonbelievers on the last day to an eternity in the lake of fire. Every person who has ever lived will be resurrected bodily one day and bow their knee to Jesus Christ; who is King of kings and Lord of lords. Don’t wait until then; start thinking of Jesus Christ as your King right now and give him the honor, praise, worship and glory that is his due from this point onward.
